Coats 4 Kids finished its thirteenth year in 2017, providing 420 new winter coats to children in low income families. Coats were given out to children in December, before the Christmas school break. Names of families with children needing coats are supplied by teachers and guidance counselors in area schools. New coats and money for this project are donated by Lynchburg Baptist Association churches, Sunday School classes or individuals. Parents are sent a letter asking them to call back to give us their children’s coat sizes and to make an appointment time to pick up the coats. There is no charge for coats given out to children.
New children’s coats in sizes 5-18 or monetary donations (to buy new coats) are needed for this ministry. New coats can be delivered to the LBA office on Tuesday- Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. of each day.
Donations may be mailed to the Associational office at 5225 Fort Avenue, Suite A, Lynchburg,VA 24502, marked to the attention of Aleta Robertson, Coats for Kids Chairman. In order to receive a coat, you must have the recommendation from your school’s guidance counselor or principal, or be recommended by an LBA church. We welcome the opportunity to serve our community through this special ministry!
